The Academic and Career Background Of Sujit Choudhry

Sujit attended McGill University where he got his Bachelor of Science degree between the year 1988 and 1992. As soon as he graduated, he enrolled in Oxford University where he studied law and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law in after a two-year program. He then joined Toronto University where he sought further knowledge in law and got his Bachelor of Law Degree in 1996. A year later, he enrolled in the Harvard University School of Law master’s program from where he graduated in 1998.


Sujit Choudhry’s career journey

After getting his LLB from Toronto University in 1996, Sujit got his first job at the Supreme Court in Canada as a Law Clerk to the then chief justice of the state of Canada. He worked at this position for just a year after which he was employed by the University of Toronto to work at their Faculty of Law. For five years, beginning in 1999, Sujit Choudhry worked as an assistant law professor. He got tenured in the year 2004 from when he became an associate law professor at the University for more than six years. While working at the University, he got the chance to visit the New York University Faculty of Law as a Visiting Law professor for four months in the year 2008.

After working as the Scholl Chair at Toronto University for five years ending 2006, he moved to the United States and got hired at the University of New York as the Cecelia Goetz Professor of Law in their Faculty of Law. He held on to this position for three years after which he moved to California to work at the Berkley Law School of the California University as the I. Michael Heyman Professor of Law.
